A single storage bed is a single frame with built-in storage as part of the base. Storage comes in two main forms: an ottoman lift base that opens upward to reveal the full area underneath the mattress, or side drawers, usually 1 to 3, that pull out from the side of the base.

All single storage beds at Dreams fit a standard UK single mattress of 90cm x 190cm (3ft x 6ft 3in). Frame dimensions vary slightly by design, as ottomans tend to sit slightly larger around the base to accommodate the lift mechanism. Single ottoman bed or single bed with drawers: which is right for you?
The two main options work very differently, and the right single bed with storage depends on your room and how you use it.
A single ottoman bed lifts the entire mattress on a gas-assisted hinge, giving you access to a full-depth compartment the same size as the mattress footprint, approximately 90cm x 190cm and typically up to 24cm deep. This is the higher-capacity option, easily enough for a spare duvet, a season's worth of clothing, or bulky items you don't need regular access to. These single storage beds work better in rooms with tight side space, since the lift mechanism opens from the foot or side of the bed rather than requiring side clearance.
A single divan bed comes with 1-3 drawers, offering side-access compartments that slide out from the base. These are more practical for everyday items, extra pillows, bedding, or clothes you reach for regularly. The trade-off is that you need clearance at the side of the bed for the drawers to open fully, so measure your room before deciding.
